AWR6843AOP: AWR6843AOP

Part Number: AWR6843AOP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843AOPEVM,

I need to develop a vital monitoring system (Heart rate , Breath rate , Heart rate deviations) to sense the vital signs of the driver during the vehicle operation. I have seen a demo of "Remote vital signs monitoring using IWR6843AOPEVM" (https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=A__AI2TiFgX8aooQmPHdYLpbA__radar_toolbox__1AslXXD__LATEST ).

I have some queries regarding this product / demo :

  • Feasibility of using AWR6843AOP instead of IWR6843AOPEVM
  • Can the system determine the vital signs accurately in our use case where vehicle movement and vibrations are expected?
  • Can the source code be made available?
  • How can the system be placed for accurate measurements?
  • Can the system integrated to seat provide accurate results?
  • Prediction accuracy
  • Feasibility to modify the source code
  • Software support from TI team
  • Heart rate and breath rate prediction range
  • Are there any products available for this application other than IWR6843AOPEVM in the automotive segment?

  • Hi,

    Deepest apologies for the delay.

    • Feasibility of using AWR6843AOP instead of IWR6843AOPEVM
      • This is totally possible, both devices have same performance!
    • Can the system determine the vital signs accurately in our use case where vehicle movement and vibrations are expected?
      • Thus far, we have not done any testing in a moving vehicle or a vehicle that is turned on. Definitely, there will be some challenges in these cases.
    • Can the source code be made available?
      • The source code is available under NDA. If you do not yet have an NDA, please reach out to TI Customer Services to acquire one.
    • How can the system be placed for accurate measurements?
      • The sensor should be positioned at chest height, about 1-2 meters away from the individual. The range can go up to about 5m, but performance will drop a little bit. The sensor's tile can range anywhere from 0 to 15 degrees. The tilt allows for the sensor to be positioned slightly above chest height, but again, the ideal position is at chest height.
    • Can the system integrated to seat provide accurate results?
      • Yes the sensor can be integrated into the seat!
    • Prediction accuracy
      • +/- 2 breaths per minute, +/- 5 beats per minute
    • Feasibility to modify the source code
      • Once NDA is secured, you can evaluate source code and modify if needed.
    • Software support from TI team
      • We can provide source code and documentation on how to run demo in order to assist you in your evaluation.
    • Heart rate and breath rate prediction range
      • This is configurable
    • Are there any products available for this application other than IWR6843AOPEVM in the automotive segment?
      • 1443 & 1642 also have been used for vital signs, though 6843AOP has the best most accurate performance. So this is the device we suggest.

    Best Regards,
    Kevin
