IWR1843BOOST: IWR1843BOOST

Part Number: IWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843AOP, IWR6843ISK

How can I work please with the EVK type IWR1843boost (by using my Laptop with Windows 11) ?
After I installed all the drivers, the device manager recognizes the EVK (see below "Port (COM&LPT)").

Then I installed the mmW-Studio software, but this software does not recognize the EVK (see below "mmWave Studio 2.1.1.0").

  • Hello,

What are you trying to do? mmWaveStudio is for raw data capture of the raw IF signal straight from the ADC buffer using a mmWave Sensor + DCA1000. Is this what you are trying to do? If so what is the error which can be seen in the Output tab

    Best Regards,

    Pedrhom

  • No error is received. IWR1843BOOST is not recognized by the mmW-Studio. Although from the TI's platform in the cloud, the IWR1843BOOST is recognized.
Maybe it's worth doing with your help like you already did to someone else in our company (we bought few IWR1843BOOSTs). That you connected remotely to the computer and changed according to what you already know, and it worked.

  • Hello,

After clicking any button in mmWaveStudio, a LUA command is sent and you can check the Output tab to see what the resulting line sent was. Please send a picture of the Output tab after trying to connect to RS232. Pictures of your setup would be a start here. It will allow me to see the switches on the EVMs. With a DCA1000 you will need to ensure that a 5V 3A power supply is being used. Offline help can happen if you reach out through your TI representative/field applications engineer.

  • Hi,

We are working without DCA1000 now.

    Please see below:

  • Hello,

ConnectTarget returning 3 is a very common connection error, usually due to incorrect hardware setup. Based off of your EVM pic, SOP0 and SOP1 needs to be set to ON.

The switch that has SPI and CAN needs to be set to the SPI side as well.

More details can be found on the most updated DCA1000 User Guide here:

  • Hi,

    Sorry about my delay.

We tried to view the signals from the IWR1843Boost. We succeeded to load the BSS and MSS files into the board, but the SPI shows error, and the program does not start. Can you please help with this problem? Please s ee the attached MP4 and JPG files

    Thank you
  • Hi, In addition to the previous message, we tried to load the following BSS FW and MSS FW:

  • Hello,

The FW selected is correct, and hardware switches are correct but where is the DCA1000 in your picture? mmWaveStudio is for mmWaveSensor + DCA1000.

  • Hi,

We don't want to work with the DCA1000. We don't have to work with the DCA1000. Therefore, we don't want/need to use the mmWaveStudio. We understand that the mmWaveStudio is for mmWaveSensor + DCA1000.
We start a couple of several months ago working with the DCA1000 + mmWaveSensor  IWR1843BOOST(with another one, we bought 3) and then we decided to work without the DCA1000 and without the mmWaveStudio.
Actually, in this previous case, one of TI's supporters (from TI E2E) helped us to solve the problem by controlling remotely on our PC.
Why not do it now, that one of TI's supporters will take control of our laptop that is connected via the USB port to the current IWR1843BOOST, and will solve the problem?

Thanks a lot. Have a nice weekend

    Shai

  • Hello Shai,

I am confused, you are saying you do not want or need mmWaveStudio, but you are asking questions on it. What exactly are you trying to do? SPI Connectivity will never work because you have no DCA1000 to connect to.

  • Hi,

We operated the IWR1843BOOST card from our proprietary program (in Python). We have the DCA1000 card, but it was a better solution for us to operate our IWR1843BOOST card by using the dedicated TI Vital Sign (C code), that you sent us its link (was opened for us 1-2days) to download it. Then we done well.
We also understood that we can use by a Cloud Studio (TI) to operate the IWR1843BOOST without the DCA1000.
We are asking to do the same with another IWR1843BOOST card that we have.
How can we get please the link and permission for 1-2 days of the TI Vital Sign (C code) in order to download it to the laptop we want (according its Windows version)? Then we can communicate with our IWR1843BOOST?
We will try then also to operate the IWR1843BOOST card from the TI Cloud.

    Best Regards, Shai

  • Hello Shai,

Again I am confused on what you are referring to. We have never had Vital Signs on IWR1843BOOST EVMs, only on IWR6843ISK and IWR6843AOP. And even if we did, the source code is under NDA and you would have to work with us offline. It is out-of-scope for these forums.

    Best Regards,

    Pedrhom

  • Hi,

OK, we can do it off line. With whom we have to be contact in order to continue with the "Vital Signs" download to our laptop?

  • Hello,

Please reach out to customer service or your TI sales representative.
