IWR6843AOPEVM: Calibration of tracker layer parameters for people counting demo

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

I've noticed that calibrating the tracker layer parameters is crucial for optimal performance of the 3d people counting demo. So far I've just adjusted parameters through trial-and-error based on what I see in the industrial visualizer. However, if I wanted to deploy this service in multiple environments, trial-and-error is an unreliable and time-consuming approach to calibrate the parameters. Is there a more automatic way to do this?

  • Hi Ronald,

We would suggest finding a single set of parameters to work in all locations. I find that the biggest difference between parameters occurs depending on the amount of movement you expect to see in a space. In a space where you do not expect to see much movement, such as an enclosed room or a conference room, I would use one set of parameters, and I would use a different set of parameters for spaces where people are moving quite a bit, such as a hallway or above a door. So, you could use two different configurations depending on the environment.

    Best,

    Nate
