AWR2944EVM: AWR2944 OOB demo could not run

Hi,

I have tried to re-compile and download application image of OOB demo inside sdk version 4.4.0.1

However, it was not able to run on 2944EVM revision B. It has been stuck at the application image. And I found that RadarSS firmware bin file seems to be corrupted, only 5KB. ("C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_04_00_01\mmwave_dfp_02_04_08_01\firmware\radarss\xwr2xxx_radarss_metarprc.bin")

Is there any problem with this sdk release? I copied radarss bin file from older version to replace this bin file. And everything seems to work fine.

Can you please confirm if any problem with this sdk release? Or this release only for 2944 revision D (production version?)

Hello Saswat,

Thanks for helping out! Unfortunately, I did not run it in debug mode with CCS. It hung while loading app image, was not able to get into mmwDemo:/> console.

Tried with pre-built image and re-compiled image, but the same problem happened. It worked only when I change the radarSS firmware.

Please let me know if you have some hints. In the meantime, I'll try to read the register value you asked for.

Hi Saswat,

I tried two options:

1. "C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_03_00_01\mmwave_dfp_02_04_05_00\firmware\radarss\xwr2xxx_radarss_metarprc.bin"

2. "C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_04_00_01\mcu_plus_sdk_awr294x_08_06_00_28\source\drivers\bootloader\soc\awr294x\xwr2xxx_radarss_metarprc.bin"

It worked with either of above radarss firmwares. Radar sensor was able to boot successfully into mmwDemo:/> console. Need your help to confirm if this is a right approach. Thanks

Hey Saswat,

Just run CCS debug with original RadarSS firmware ("C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_04_00_01\mmwave_dfp_02_04_08_01\firmware\radarss\xwr2xxx_radarss_metarprc.bin"). Please find TOP_CTRL_EFUSE register value as per attachment. I have observed that there was an assertion error because of BSS is not powered up.

Please let me know if you have any idea about the RadarSS firmware. Thanks

Hello QHLam,

This will not be supported by the 4.4.0.1 as this is an ES 1.0 EVM, you can use the DFP 2.4.5. This is the right DFP version for it.

Hello Saswat,

DFP 2.4.5 is only available in 4.3.0.1, that means I can only use sdk 4.3.0.1 for ES1.0EVM. Do you see any problems if I grade DFP 2.4.5 for sdk 4.4.0.1

Hello QHLam,

The 4.3.0.1 is meant for the ES 1.0 device. As per my knowledge the 4.4.0.1 has features related to the ES 2.0 which needs the new patch(dfp 2.4.8.1) for some of the features.
You can try it out but as per my understanding this will not work. Let me check this with the software team.

I tried and at least it was bootable to mmwDemo console and ran with mmwave Visualizer. However, I am not sure if any potential issues.

I got input from the software team that you can use DFP 2.4.5.1 in mmwave SDK 4.4.1.

Please let me know where to download DFP 2.4.5.1, because it could not be found in neither sdk 4.3.0.1 (DFP 2.4.5.0) nor sdk 4.4.0.1 (DFP 2.4.8.1)

Is this only TI interal release?
