Part Number: AWR1843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, IWR1843AOP, MMWAVEICBOOST, AWR1843AOP

Hello TI Team,

Greeting from Miit Prajapati.

While, Flashing a code in AWR1843AOPEVM i facing the problem which i mentioned below.

1. [ERROR] Cortex_R4_0: Initial response from the device was not received. Please power cycle device before re-flashing.

2. [ERROR] Cortex_R4_0: Not able to connect to serial port. Recheck COM port selected and/or permissions.

Steps i used while flashing.

1.Switch S3 to flash mode (ON).

2.OFF the board and ON it again.

3.Select the device Iwr1843Aop in uniflash.

4.Select the COM port.

5.browse and flash the code.

Flashing the code in AWR1843AOPEVM by follow above same step from last 10 days, Its working.

But from Tomorrow, I facing these ERROR.

I follow the steps multiply times, but showing me same ERROR.

I also check COM port which i used multiply times.

Help me to resolve this problem.

Thank and Regards,

Miit Prajapati.

  • Hi Prajapati,

Please close all the other applications that use the same COM port. Just open the uniflash application to flash the device.

No other application should be using the COM port.

    Thanks,

    Pradipta.

  • Hello Pradipta,

    Thanks for replying.

I do the same as you say, I close all other application and Restart my laptop. Then try to flash the code but i facing same ERROR.

    Thanks,

    Miit Prajapati.

  • Hi,

    1) Is the device damaged? While powering up the device are all the power status LEDs glowing up indicating the correct status. Please update which all LEDs you see while powering up?

    2) What is/are the changes you have done? As you say it was working fine for you previously and you face this issue only recently.

    3) Is your PC identifying the COM ports from the device? Please provide a snapshot from the device manager

    4) Also, in the SDK user guide and documentation we have mentioned other ways of flashing of device. Can you try those ways and let us know your observations.

    5) Check if the device is in flashing mode or note. (SOP Settings required: 101). Let me know your switch positions on the board.

    Thanks,

    Pradipta.

  • Hello Pradipta,

    Thanks for replying.

    1) Is the device damaged? While powering up the device are all the power status LEDs glowing up indicating the correct status. Please update which all LEDs you see while powering up?

->No device is not damaged, All the led was glowing. Board is also working i received the data form board while it was in (function mode).

While flashing i face that ERROR, which i mentioned before.

    2) What is/are the changes you have done? As you say it was working fine for you previously and you face this issue only recently.

->I don't do any change, While Flashing i only change the position of the switch 3 (S3).

    3) Is your PC identifying the COM ports from the device? Please provide a snapshot from the device manager

While flashing i selected (Enhanced COM Port (COM6)).

    4) Also, in the SDK user guide and documentation we have mentioned other ways of flashing of device. Can you try those ways and let us know your observations.

    ->1. First is by uniflash.

       2. By putting board in debug mode  and run debug function in CCS, CCS will build the code and flash it automatically..? If this was second method.

Then how should i perform this method without MMWaveICBoost in AWR1843AOPEVM.?

    5) Check if the device is in flashing mode or note. (SOP Settings required: 101). Let me know your switch positions on the board

    Thanks and Regards,

    Miit Prajapati.

  • Hi,

Can you try installing the drivers again and Uni-flash Software again.

    Thanks,

    Pradipta.

  • Hello,

    Yes, I try it twice.

I have one more Question, Have should i debug AWR1843AOP EVM.?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Miit prajapati.

  • Hi,

You can use the Code Composer Studio TI IDE for your debugging purposes.

CCSTUDIO IDE, configuration, compiler or debugger | TI.com

    Thanks,

    Pradipta.

  • Hello,

MMWaveICBoost is required for debugging AWR1843AOPEVM..?

Please give me some solution on flashing ERROR.

    Thanks,

    Miit Prajapati.

  • Hi,

    For flashing issue,

    • Please make sure that you have set the right SOP jumper on EVM in order to put device in flashing mode. Do the power cycle after putting the jumpers then start using Uniflash.
    • Make sure the COM port number is correct in the Uniflash ‘Settings & utilities’ TAB. This COM port should be the number which is populated as a “XDS110 Class Application/User UART”.
    • Disconnect and connect the USB cable if Uniflash is not able to access the COM port.
    • Check the power supply if it is according to the spec. (5V ~3A)
    • If Uniflash was crashed or closed forcefully in last session then try to kill these processes from TaskManager – “DSLite.exe” and “Python**” and restart the Uniflash GUI. [TODO] find the 2nd process name.
    • Try different PC to use the Uniflash. (if above doesn’t resolve the issue)
    • Update to latest Uniflash version if using old version of it.

    Thanks,

    Pradipta.
