TMP112: Unused ALERT termination

Hi team,

My customer would like to know how to terminate when ALERT is unused for TMP102/112.

In this thread, it is mentioned that it is recommended to leave floating, not tie to GND because it may be possible for it to pull to supply under unusual conditions.

But I don't get what is "unusual conditions" exactly.

Could you please elaborate on why it is not recomended to tie ALERT to GND?

Hi Itoh-san,

It is okay to tie the ALERT pin to ground under normal operating conditions as stated in the datasheet. "Unusual conditions" are any conditions the device is being operated in that do not follow the datasheet specifications as we can not guarantee performance outside of what we have written.

I received the feedback from my customer.

It is confusing that TI is not recommending unused ALERT pin to GND termination for the case it is not specified in the datasheet.

It would be helpful if you avoid unclear recommendation like this.
