AWR2243: How to increase the pulse width of SYNC_OUT from master AWR2243

Hi,

Customer is working with AWR2243 cascade system. They found the pulse width of frame sync from SYNC_OUT pin of master AWR2243 is about 20ns on their board. But they found below info in errata and customer is worried that there is risk to trigger FRC lockstep error.

Would you pls kindly advise if there is any way to increase the pulse width of SYNC_OUT from master AWR2243?

Hello chris,

Could you clarify me one detail, you have mentioned that they are worried about the SYNC_OUT but this errata is for the SYNC_IN?
Also the SYNC_IN pin needs to be fed externally to the AWR2243.

Saswat,

In cascade system, the SYNC_OUT from AWR2243 master is the input of the SYNC_IN of AWR2243 slaves.

The pulse width is fixed in firmware and not modifiable.

I am not sure why the are concerned about this issue. The issue will happen if the pulse width is >4us. In this case the pulse width is 25ns, and is nowhere near 4us.

Do you mean the issue will only happen if the pulse is >4us?

if yes, why the workaround of this issue suggests the pulse >25ns and <4us, instead of <4us only?

Sorry for delay in getting back to you. Correct, as Adrian confirmed the errata, the pulse width should be >25nSec and <4uSec. The minimum time (in nSec) obviously is for it to be long enough for the receiver to recognize as a pulse and not a glitch or noise.

Josh,

AWR2243 master can only output about 20ns frame sync pulse to AWR2243 slave. There is no way to increase the pulse width of AWR2243 SYNC OUT.

Pls double check again if 20ns pulse is ok for AWR2243 Sync in or not.

It should not be an issue. The main concern is that the pulse width should not be > 4us.
