AWR1843: Maximum input power on receive antenna channel

Hi,

My customer would like to know if there is limitation on the maximum input power per receiver antenna channel, they have concern that it would burn out the device if exceed the limitation.

Dear Andy -

Thanks for the post and sorry for the delay. Here, you need not worry about RX power in I think, as long as they are following our reference design and using the checklist (both provided here: https://www.ti.com/tool/AWR1843BOOST#design-files)- the more relevant parameter for your customer is most likely the power on hours, as shown in Section 8.3 of the AWR1843 datasheet.

There is no chance that you would damage the device by exceeding the RX input power with an FMCW chirp from the device. Worst case you may saturate the receiver with a very strong close object, but it will not damage the device.
