AWR1843: Initial chirp phase

Part Number: AWR1843

Hi,

My customer want to understand the initial phase per chirp to decide the calibration way, would it be fixed per device, or change along with temperature, and change per POR?

Andy

  • Hi Andy,

The Chirps can be designed/ configured with the initial phase by using the appropriate API's. Unless until changed these settings will be in effect.

Callibrations ensure that the phase output is correct. It does not configure the phase of the chirps only ensures that the phase output is always as per the device standards.

There is a boot time calibration for phase and also run time calibration.

For more information on calibration please use the application note as below which has documented the complete procedure.

    Thanks,

    Pradipta.

  • Pradipta,

Phase cfg is to configure the TX phase shift, right?

Calibration is to keep the phase set coherence, described below in your shared doc, there should be phase different between different channel, the question is how about the initial phase per channel, would that be changed along with the start time and temperature? Customer would like to understand that to compensate the initial chirp phase.

Because the same calibration codes are applied to all the receiver or transmit chains within a single MMIC, there is typically minimal gain/phase mismatch change between the channels. However, the absolute gain/phase before and after the calibrations can be different.

  • Hi Andy,

Can you let me know about the use case? Currently i am not able to understand the use case and provide explanation as per that. Can you let me know the requirements or expectations at the customer end.

    Thanks,

    Pradipta.
