IWR1642: Sense On Power (SOP) pin confusion

Part Number: IWR1642

I'm designing a board that uses the IWR1642, but there's some confusion on what the actual SOP pins are on the device.  On page 2 of the "Bootloader Flow" application note (SWRA563), it lists the SOP pins as P13, P11, and J13 for SOP[2], SOP[1], and SOP[0] respectively.  In the actual datasheet for the device (SWRS212B), the SOP pins are listed as P9, G13, and N13.  I'm assuming that the datasheet is the correct one, but I wanted to verify before I put anything to copper.  I couldn't find a schematic for the IWR1642BOOST EVM board, otherwise I would have just used that to verify.

  • Hello Raymond,

The reason for the conflict is probably that the app note was written for a particular silicon revision.

For the revision of IWR1642 that you are developing around, please reference the schematics for the IWR1642 and the IWR1642BOOST rather than the app note. You can find the latter under the "Design Files" section of this page: IWR1642BOOST Evaluation board

    Regards,
    Luke

  • All 3 of the BOOST schematics agree with the datasheet and not the application note, but I can't find any info about whether the SOP pin locations were changed between silicon revision 1.0 and 2.0.  Either way, it looks like if I follow the datasheet then I'll be good to go.  Thanks.
