AWR1843AOPEVM: Plus or minus of the azimuth Angle

Hi，

Now I test the AWR1843AOPEVM with the same bin file 18xx_mss_demo.bin, if the object is on the left lane, if I use the AWR1843BOOST, the azimuth is plus,but if the AWR1843AOP EVM is used, the azimuth is minus.

They have opposite signs.Is that right? If it is right, what is the reason for that?Is it with the Rx antenna layout?

For AWR1843BOOST, the antenna layout is as belows:

For the AWR1843AOP，the antenna layout is:

The Rx antennas sequence from left to right for the AWR1843Boost is RX1,Rx2,Rx3,Rx4; but for the AWR1843AOP is Rx4,Rx3,Rx2,Rx1, is it the reason for that?

Hi Rata,

It all depends on the shortest route to feed the antenna patches. Also, The RX or TX order of the antennas does not matter.

Hi Sami,

Now I got the opposite signs for the AWR1843 and AWR1843AOP with the same bin file.What could be the couse?I am not familiar with the antenna theory, could you give a more detailed explanation?Or is there any reference about that?

How are you orienting the antennas when you do your test for both devices?

Hi Sami,

I test the devices as belows, if we face to the development board,for AWR1843BOOST, the layout is as belows:

The antennas are on the top.

For AWR1843AOP, the layout is:

USB port is on the top.

Hi Rata,

There is a 180 degree inversion that can cause left to become right or right to become left. Either the board is rotated 180 deg or an inversion in the post processing of the sampled ADC data.
