IWR6843AOP: Hardware design checklist and Inquiries

Part Number: IWR6843AOP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843, , MMWAVEICBOOST

Hello Expert,

Could you please write your comment at each items after checking my inquiries?

1. Is the UART Port (V16, U16) usable for program download in program mode and for external communication in operation mode?

2. Which pin can we use for RS-232 communication?

3. Is IWR6843 capable of RS-485 communication?

4. Do I need to use an external EEPROM (U6/CAT2408)?

5. Can I understand SOP CONFIGURATION mode as follows?
-. Functional Mode: Product operation mode
-. Flash Mode : Program download mode
-. MMWAVEICEBOOST mode: program download debug mode using JTAG

6. In the IWR6843AOP Data sheet, GND has VSSA and VSS separately, but GND is integrated in the EV circuit. Can it be integrated and designed?

7. I need Hardware Design Checklist for this part.

Best Regards,

Michael

  • Hello Michael,

Please see the HW checklist at the link here. https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/swrr161

    1. Yes that can be used to flash or load data.

    2. T=U16 and V16 are also the RS232-port

    3. No pins work with RS485.

    4. No the EEPROM is not needed for a production design.

    5. Functional and flashing mode is correct. There is no MMWAVEICBOOST mode. The other mode is for bypassing the bootloader and connecting to the front end of the device for ADC data collection. It is not advised to use this mode.

    6. You can see in our EVM reference schematic that VSS and VSSA are both connected directly to the same ground plane. https://www.ti.com/tool/IWR6843AOPEVM

    Regards,
