Hello, 

I am currently running into some issues with getting raw data from mmWave Studio 3.0.0.14 I am following the Cascade User guide and have been able to connect to AWR2243 Four-Device Cascade Radar. However every time I try to collect raw data my bin files are empty. I do get a .fig file which I am able to open in matlab but not the bin file. 

I have successfully used the IWR6843AOP board with the DCA100 board in the past. I followed the same API for DataConfig. The only changes I made were for Frame config. I left defaults in most situations. 

I have attached a few pictures describing my setup. I would greatly appreciate some help thank you.

    I noticed that you did not have these two boxes ticked in your setup.

    Then, if possible, would you please go through section 7 (starts page 10) and on to double check the steps you have taken?

  • Hi Josh thank you for taking the time to respond. I still get empty bin file. I have revised the steps taken from chapter 7 of the User Guide and modified my Static configuration tab. I can see that the LogFile is updated every time I try to connect data but the .bin file is still empty. Do you have any suggestions?

    Which version of mmWave Studio and DFP are you using? 

    Can you try running the Cascade example scripts located at C:\ti\mmwave_studio_03_00_00_14\mmWaveStudio\Scripts\Cascade?

    First, you need to run the Cascade_Configuration_Basic.lua to configure the radar. Then, you can run the Cascade_Capture.lua. 

    If this still does not work, please share the full mmWave Studio log for the running of the above scripts.

    We are using: mmwave_studio_03_00_00_14 and mmwave_dfp_02_02_04_00.

    We just tried running the two scripts, and the problems occurs with the script Cascade_Capture.lua. Please note that in the script Cascade_Configuration_Basic.lua we changed:

    metaImagePath            =   "C:\\ti\\mmwave_dfp_02_02_02_01\\firmware\\xwr22xx_metaImage.bin"

    to

    metaImagePath            =   "C:\\ti\\mmwave_dfp_02_02_04_00\\firmware\\xwr22xx_metaImage.bin"

    and it executed successfully. 

    Logs are attached.

  • Hello,

    Sorry, looking at the logs I noticed that there is a third script that needs to be run. So, the sequence should be as follows:

    1. Cascade_Configuration_Basic.lua -> configures the sensors up to the datapath configuration

    2. Cascade_Configuration_MIMO.lua -> configures the chirp and frame settings for MIMO operation

    3. Cascade_Capture.lua -> performs that data capture

    Because you were missing #2, there was no chirp or frame configuration programmed to the sensor, so there was nothing to capture. Now, with the above three scripts hopefully it should work.
