IWR6843ISK: Temperature sensor on EV Kit

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843

Hello,

I wish to know purpose of temperature sensor on IWR6843 EV Kit.

Is it for calibration of radar? Or temperature sensor could be removed from EV Kit?

If it is used, Where can I found document and source code?

Please let me know.

  • Hi,

Thermal issues in circuits could impact system performance and damage expensive components. Measuring the temperature of a PCB in sections where there are “Hot Spots”, or “Power Hungry ICs” can help identify these issues to take preventive or corrective action in real time. Systems designers may want to monitor the die temperature of a power-hungry IC to dynamically adjust its performance, or the designers may want to monitor “Hot” sections around power stages to either control the fan speed in a system or initiate a safe system shutdown. The ultimate goal is to optimize performance and protect costly devices.

You can refer to the datasheet of the temperature sensor TMP112A below to know how you can program & get the readings from temperature register using I2C interface.
