DCA1000EVM: Can other LDVS driver ICs be used?

Part Number: DCA1000EVM

Hi,

I have a question about TI MUX IC and LVDS driver IC.

The reference design of PROC117B(001_IWR)_Sch uses MUX IC of TS3A27518EPWR + driver IC of SN65LVDS31MDREP.

But our customer used TS3A27518ERTWR MUX IC + SN65LVDS391PWR driver IC on the circuit, is this feasible?

  • Hi,

    I explored the TS3A27518ERTWR MUX IC + SN65LVDS391PWR driver IC vs TS3A27518EPWR + driver IC of SN65LVDS31MDREP.

These are the comparisons with the suggested ICs that can be looked into:

    1) The TS3A27518ERTWR MUX IC and the suggested TS3A27518EPWR MUX IC are the same ICs with the only variation being the package.

    2) The SN65LVDS391PWR driver IC varies with the recommended SN65LVDS31MDREP driver IC in the following ways:

         (i) The recommended operating free-air temperature of the SN65LVDS391PWR driver IC is (-40c to 85c), while that of the SN65LVDS31MDREP driver is (-55c to 125c).

(ii) As compared to the recommended SN65LVDS31MDREP driver IC, the SN65LVDS391PWR driver IC enables higher frequencies (up to 300MHz) with higher current                        consumption.

If the above comparisons are ok with the end equipment, then everything else seems fine.

    Best Regards,
