AWR1642: About the internal algorithm of the life signal detection demo

Part Number: AWR1642

Hello, I am currently thinking about the specific implementation steps of the 1642 radar board life signal detection demo May I ask the function of the dss part and the MSS part of the code? I also read a part of the Qt code in the host computer, and found that the code of the dss, MSS and Qt part has no comments. Is there any more detailed information for readers to learn and understand the whole process? specific implementation steps. Thanks!

Best Regards,

Gary

  • Hi Gary,

Can you provide more info on which demo you are exactly referring to? (Link to the TI website helps). We provide overall high-level documentation within that same demo package and the information you seek should be available within that.

The MSS or the Main Subsystem is responsible for overseeing the operations of all the other subsystems on the chip such as configuring the front end, monitoring device related statistics, communicating with the DSS, utilizing peripherals to send and receive data to and from outside the chip.

The DSS or the DSP Subsystem is responsible for the radar signal processing and running the algorithms that you would prefer as it is efficient to do so by it architechture.

The MSS and the DSS are part of the 1642 device whereas the QT code would be the source for the visualizer that would receive data from the chip and display it for interpretation and visualization. This visualizer is strictly running on the host machine.

Again, I highly recommend you go through the demo folders to look for relevant information.

  • Hello Kaushik,
The folder directory is C:\ti\mmwave_automotive_toolbox_3_0_0\labs\lab0001-driver-vital-signs, but this toolbox_3_0_0 seems to have been lost, which file is a comprehensive advanced document? I see that there are indeed several documents in it, but there is no analysis of the code.

  • Hi Gary,

Please migrate to the latest version of the Radar Toolbox which can be found here.

  • Hello,

thank you very much. I found information about using the 6843 radar for life signal detection inside, but I did not see any information about using the AWR1642 radar board for life signal detection. May I ask if their process is roughly the same?

    Regards,

    Gary

  • Hello,

May I ask why the current toolbox only has the information of 6843 and 1443, and the information of other radar boards cannot be found

    Gary

  • Gary,

We no longer support these demos. We have moved to supporting demos on our new 6843 board which provides better vital signs accuracy.

    Thanks,

    Angie
