TMP117: TMP117 NIST Traceability and Verification

Part Number: TMP117

In another thread, a Ti rep said, "You can request the TMP117 NIST documentation from this link on the product page. TI does not provide the measurement  uncertainty of an individual device, but does provide a warranty for each device."

However, in the TMP117 documentation, it says, " The TMP117 units are 100% tested on a production setup that is NIST traceable and verified with equipment that is calibrated to ISO/IEC 17025 accredited standards."

Want to confirm that every TMP117 unit is verified to meet the accuracy/precision levels listed in the documentation against NIST traceable equipment. In other words, is each TMP117 NIST traceable calibrated, meaning that each TMP117 unit has been confirmed to be accurate to within the specified ranges in the documentation against NIST traceable equipment?

  • Hi Isaac,

The statement by the TI rep and the statement in the document are both true and do not contradict each other. I think your confusion comes from the statement "TI does not provide the measurement uncertainty of an individual device." We are often asked for a calibration certificate for each device, which we do not offer. The calibration certificate is expected to contain the temperature error measured on an individual device. That's why we made the statement regarding "measurement uncertainty of an individual device." The datasheet is the document that provides min/max specifications. 100% of TMP117 devices are tested in production to meet those specifications.

    thanks,
