Hello Gary,
You don't need to reburn it every time. Once you burn the application in the flashing mode, then it gets stored in the flash, then when you switch to the functional mode the application is loaded from the flash.
To format this flash, you can use the uniflash itself:
And press the format SFLASH option from above when in flashing mode.
