IWRL6432BOOST: Power Consumption per SWRA766 - Tracking and Classification

Table 1 indicates 50 mW for "3+ persons tracking". I would like to confirm that measurement / duplicate that set-up.

I have a Boost board and ran the "human nonhuman classification" demo. It did a nice job tracking multiple people in its FOV. However, when I measured power consumption, I saw 1W+ going into the digital core supply. I had noticed the errata on the power measurement function and used a 6-digit DMM to measure the voltage drop across the sense resistor directly.

You can try using Low Power mmWave Visualizer. The visualizer tool enables you to read the averafe power.

Ankit, thanks, but that does not really answer my question. Which demo do I use to recreate the 3+ persons tracking as described in table 1 in SWRA766? I tried the mmWave Industrial Visualizer and the FW mentioned in the human nonhuman classification demo, but when I measured the voltage drop across current sense resistor for the digital core, it showed about ~1 amp steady current draw.

Hi Larry,

What kind of timing are you using in your measurement? The IWRL6432 draws a lot of current when chirping, but that is only for a very brief time. Can you try to plot the power received over time?

You can use the motion and presence detection demo with any of the tracking/classification configuration files.

We've measured the power on the IWRL6432 pretty extensively and I'm quite confident there is a discrepancy here somewhere. We can work together to figure out why there is a difference in the power results. You are free to measure it yourself or recreate Larry's setup. Let us know when you have results here so we can get to the bottom of it.
