IWR6843AOP: CW Mode fo FCC Testinf with SDK

Hello,

I need to put our custom board with IWR6843AOP into Continuous Wave Mode for FCC Testing.

I know there are LUA Scripts for this purpose, but our board does not have the required headers to use the DCA.

We have available UART connection instead, so I would use SDK with CLI Interface to send configuratoin for CW Mode.

Is it the right way? I found file: mmwave_Studio_cli_xwr68xx in the path:

C:\ti\radar_toolbox_1_20_00_11\tools\studio_cli\prebuilt_binaries

Is it good also for IWR6843AOP?

The new Studio CLI tool will allow you to configure a CW via the UART port. Please check the below link for TI mmWave Studio CLI user guide:

Hi, thank you for your reply. I manage to use Studio Cli with my IWR6843AOP and I think it starts with Continuous Wave generation. Actually I don't know if generation is running with a single frequency, but I use rlRfGetTemperatureReport function to monitor temperature and it is increasing quickly. For this reason I think it's running. How long I can keep this mode running? I see temperature reaches 100 celsius degree in 30 seconds or so and then I turn off CW mode, however I don't know how long is FCC test. What temperature could reach before I have to turn off CW mode?

Hi,

The supported operating temperature for the IWR6843AOP device is -40 to 105 deg C. Please do ensure the temperature does not go beyond 105 deg C.

Which temperature you refer to? I can monitor temperature below and turn-off CW mode when temperature threshold is reached:

Rx0, Rx1, Rx2, Rx3, Tx0, Tx1, Tx2, PM, Dig

Hi Andrea,

We should ideally check all the temperature sensors and ensure that all of them are below 105 degC.
