Hello TI Forum,

I had followed the CSS Debug process for debugging AWR6843AOP which is mentioned at Using CCS Debug

Below are the setup images that I am using. S3 of EVM is set to Off.

I had tested the JTAG connecting using the test present at target while creating a target configuration I can see the tests are successfully.

When I try running debug the following below error is showed in the console and unable to move forward to breakpoint that I had set.

Cortex R4 0: Trouble Setting Breakpoint with the Action "Process CIO at exte962: (Error 18650x1E964) Unable to access device memory. Verify that the memory address is in valid memory. Herron persists, confirm configuration, power cycle board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (eg. lower TCLK). (Emulation package 9.12.0.00150) Cortex R4 0: Breakpoint Manager: Retrying with a AET breakpoint

Verify that the memory address is in valid memory. It error persists, confire configuration, power-cycle board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLE). (Emilation package 9.12.0.00156) Cortex R4 0: Breakpoint Manager: Retrying with a AET breakpoint

I had turned off the optimisations aswell.

Moreever I am unable to use CLI for sending the config in order to start the sensor.

Hi, there:

Please check the EVM users guide at https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/swru546. Table 2-9 shows the SOP setting.

Your attached figure shows that your SOP setting is in flashing mode. You can flash the CCS debug to the device with this mode.

After that, you need to set the SOP setting to function mode, for ccs debug. Let me know if it helps.

Hi Zigang,

Thank for pointing it but, I had set it to functional mode (SOP2 OFF) and now I cannot see any output it just shows running and cannot use step or send commands over CLI.

I assume that you are following the steps at Using CCS Debug (ti.com). Can you confirm which steps you have done, and which step that you are stuck with?

Hi,

After starting the sensor from CLI it does not hit the breakpoint rather it just keeps running.

Hi, there: from the figure you attached, it seems you are not truly set the break point. The break point has to be set after loading and before running the target code. A valid break point is usually in light blue instead of grey color. Can you double check?

Thank you Zigang, it working but it not consistent below are the steps I had followed

1. Put board in flashing mode, then flash css debug bin. Power Cycle reset

2. Put back board in the functional mode, Power Cycle reset

3. Build Mss an Dss, connect to target

4. Load Mss, Dss and Run before this I had enable breakpoint the editor

5. Send CLI commands

6. After sending the CLI commands, at first time it works when I follow the same for second time it raises a error: xdc.runtime.raise: terminating execution

Correct me if I am doing anything wrong, or is there any other guide that I could follow for proper debugging.

The below process worked for me

1. Flash CSS Debug Firmware.

2. Build Project.

3. Launch debug target

4. Connect to mss core target load it (.xer4f)

5. Connect to dss core target load it (.xe674)

6. Group core

7. Run

8. Once CLI is operational, send CLI commands

9. Put debug point either in MSS or DSS

10. Step
