OPT3002: Application for Proximity Sensor

Part Number: OPT3002

Hello team,

My customer is looking for a proximity sensor.

Can OPT3002 be used for proximity sensor if there is mechanism when the object get closer, the ambient light gets dimmer?
(My customer wants to detect up to 10mm range.)

Also, I am interested in Latched Window-Style Comparison Mode. Is this feature possible to output fault signal, when the sensor detects lower theshold set by the low-limit register?

The Low limit threshold set by LSB, and high limit set by FSR is this understanding correct?

Best Regards,
Kei Kuwahara

  • Hi Kuwahara-san,

That's correct. The intended feature of the Latched Window-Style Comparison Mode is to allow a threshold detection for values above the high-limit register and below the low-limit register. Table 2 in the datasheet further details the operation.

The low limit and high limit thresholds are set in registers 0x02 and 0x03 as shown in the register map below. Sections 7.6.1.1.3 and 7.6.1.1.4 of the datasheet give further details on these registers, respectively.

Resolution of images in the post is not great, but if you click on the images you will be able to see the tables clearly.

    Thanks
