AWR6843AOP: AWR6843AOP EVM G + DCA1000 SPI connection failed

Genius 13655 points
Part Number: AWR6843AOP

Hello Champs,

HW: AWR6843AOP EVM G + DCA1000

Power supply:5V 3A; 6843AOPEVM: S1.1-S1.4:OFF OFF OFF ON;S2.2-S2.4:OFF ON OFF OFF;S3:OFF

Customer connected AWR6843AOP EVM G + DCA1000 as below, but it prompted below error when connecting to mmWave Studio 2.1.1.0.

Another question is about the SW1, SW2 configuration. The description on the schematic conflicts to the user guide.

Please see below snapshots. s1.4(sop1) in schematic is "ON" while it is "OFF" in user guide. s2.2 in schematic is "ON" while it is "NA" in user guide. Which one is correct?

Thanks

  • Hello,

Unfortunately MSS Power Up async event was not received is an error that can be caused by several different issues, but the problem is due to connection issues between DCA1000 and computer with likely no relation to the mmWave sensor. I would attempt possible changes involving the Ethernet connection, such as checking your static IP settings and disabling your firewall. I personally ran into this exact error once due to a bad/incompatible Ethernet cable so try changing the cable as well.

Ensure you follow the steps in the guide below in the exact order they are shown in with no steps skipped.

  • Hello Pedrhom Nafisi,

    Thank you very much.

Customer followed the steps in the guide. But the SPI connection still fails.

He did another test without mmwave studio. He ran the sdk demo and sent the data via LVDS interface, then using DCA1000 CLI command, this can work without using SPI.

So he wandered if there is something wrong with the SPI hardware?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

I have seen cases of this before, and yes if SPI is for some reason not functional then using StudioCli/LVDS will still work if nothing else is causing an issue. Ensure the switches on the DCA1000 are exactly as shown in the Radar Toolbox guide, and switch USB cables if possible.

    Best Regards,
