HDC3020: Condensation on device pin and its effect

Part Number: HDC3020

Hi team,

My customer looks for humidity sensor which will be used under ~100%RH. He is asking some questions regarding condensation on pins.

  1. HDC3xxx has integrated heater. Does it have capability to prevent condensation on pins?
  2. Have you ever heard concern for corrosion of pins by condensation and its effect to device performance?

Best regards,

Shota Mago

  • Hello,

The HDC3xxx heater does not have the capability to prevent condensation on the pins, just on the sensor cavity area. The only concern I have for corrosion of pins from condensation would be contact between the HDC3xxx and the PCB. This would be due to the higher contact resistance on corroded pins, so it may have a harder time making contact. However, assuming no condensation in the sensor cavity, there should be no impact to device performance due to corrosion on the pins.

    Regards
