TMP114: Autonomous monitoring

Part Number: TMP114
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP117, TMP116, TMP107

Hi,

Do any of the sensors support temperature flag setting with no I2C bus connected ?

We would like to power the device with the MCU disconnected over a long time, then plug the MCU in and read off whether or not the temperature limits have been exceeded during it's life.

Is this possible ?

Cheers

  • We have no temperature sensor products which retain their outputs. Any output would have to be captured by some other means. Temperature data would preferably be written to nonvolatile memory by an MCU. An ALERT output (thermal limit) could possibly be latched by basic logic gates. Such a latch would be volatile, and would be lost on power-down.

We have temperature switches which provide digital ALERT output without MCU intervention. We also have TMP116/TMP117 and TMP107 with nonvolatile configuration registers that allow a 1-time configuration of limits. These products will not maintain ALERT status when the temperature falls below the programmed limit, which is why the output would need to be latched some how. Here is our temperature switch portfolio: www.ti.com/.../overview.html

    thanks,
