AWR1843BOOST: Running on MacOS

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVE-SDK, UNIFLASH, DCA1000EVM, AWR1843

I recently purchased an AWR1843BOOST and DCA1000, but I've been having issues getting it set up because many of the software products require Windows (i.e. mmWave-SDK). Am I able to do anything with the device using a Mac or do I need a Windows device?

  • Hi Ryan,

Our SW is not supported on MacOS at the moment. You can try using something like a virtual machine or linux subsystem on your MacOS system and evaluate our SW.

  • Is that for all aspects and in I won't be able to use the device or would I just need a custom SW? There's certain things like uniflash and mmWave Demo Visualizer that advertise having Mac support

  • Hi Ryan,

SDK has Linux and windows support whereas the mmWave Studio is exclusive to windows. Other tools like Uniflash that you mentioned are used across TI's devices whereas the mmwave SDK and the Studio are exclusively to the radar products. Hence, considering the scope of what essentials would be needed to use the AWR1843+DCA1000EVM, macOS is not supported on e2e.

    Having said that,

    • You can still use tools like Uniflash and the visualizer to just flash and run the demo.
    • Use the source provided in the SDK and customize it to your macOS environment (You would have to figure out how to do this).
    • Use Code Composer Studio IDE and debug on the EVM.

    Regards,
