OPT3101: phase questions

Part Number: OPT3101
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT301

Hi,

One customer used OPT301 and when he  turns off phase calibration, measuring the phase offset, after configuring to phase_offset register, enabling phase calibration at a single frequency read phase, it is correct at 10M frequency. But the distance under 12M is not correct, but if using the sequencer alternately read, the result is correct again. Why

Best regards

  • Kailyn,

This part is ITOF (Indirect Time of Flight) not DTOF (Direct Time of Flight), it's much more accurate and stable method of determining distance because it is not dependent on reflection percentages, colors , ambient light or signal amplitudes that can be inaccurately represented. ITOF is a better solution as it is more accurate and measuring distance is not based on amplitude or timing from a ping which is dependent on the percentage of reflection. We use IQ phase angle to determine distance. For that reason Turning off phase calibration is the same as turning off distance calibration.
