AWR6843: Minimum Idle Time

Part Number: AWR6843

Team

According to the Apps Note - Programming Chirp Parameters in TI Radar Devices, the Ramp Down Time should be at least 7us when using bandwidths above 3GHz, or more if the ADC sampling rate is below 5MHz. (According to the same document USRR, it is 50us.)

Could you please let me know the minimum setting when the chirp slope is 97MHz/us, ramp end time is 41us, and sampling rate is 4.4MHz.

Regards,
Nonaka

  • Hey Nonaka-san,

For the minimum idle time, it is possible to get it down to 7 us if the ADC samples are set to 148. I will have to track down the more complex calculations to see if the sigma-delta ADC decimation delay would be negligible or not. You can check the timing through the Ramp Timing Calculator in mmWave Studio 2.1. Alternatively, you can also use the Advanced Chirp Design and Tuning tab of the mmWave Sensing Estimator to verify this as well.
