OPT3101: EVM calibration issue

Hi Team,

Use the OPT3101 Configurator Tool to configure the .CPP file in the SDK to Super-HDR mode as shown in figure below:

Open the INLAB_step_1 condition in the SDK to compile and download. When performing a 10mm, 20mm, 80mm, 120mm calibration with a white background, distance measurements beyond 230mm after calibration are abnormal and with a black background, distance measurements less than 80mm after calibration are abnormal.

The customer would like to know what background board should be used for calibration of INLAB_step_1 to ensure consistency? Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Hi Cherry,

Definitely use a background with high reflectance i.e. a white background. How is the distances in OPT3101Coefficients.cpp in the SDK defined?

Thank you for the support.

The customer uses OPT3101EVM with MSP430F5529LP to test the entire calibration process, the OPT3101Coefficients.cpp file of the SDK uses default parameters with the distance 10 mm, 20 mm, 80 mm, 120 mm.

Hi,

The customer just give some updates:

After calibration, the output data switches to the TX1 channel when the test distance exceeds 230 mm, causing the channel output distance to not be the normal value as shown in the figure:

Is the customer using the SDK code and an MSP430 board for the calibration? Take a look at the OPT3101Coefficients.cpp file of the SDK. To be honest the automated method using an MSP430 board and the SDK code is the best method of doing the calibration. Read the code, it will walk you through the entire process. It's p[ossible the customer is missing something in calibration that the automated version in the SDK will resolve.

The SDK is the closest to an automated calibration you can get. I wasnt sure if the customer was using the SDK or trying to do the calibration manually. It looks like they are doing the calibration using the right tools.
