TMP117: DSBGA package - sensing element localization

Part Number: TMP117

Dead Texas Instruments Team,

I have successfully utilized the TMP117 (DSBGA package) , and I am now looking to employ it for air temperature measurement. The precise localization of the sensor's sensitive element is crucial for determining its orientation in my project. In the attached image, could you kindly specify the location of the sensitive element along the Y-axis?

If this information is not publicly available, could you confirm whether it is situated near Face A or Face B of the sensor

Best Regards,

  • Hello,

The temp sensor element is located in the middle of the die, but the junction-to-board thermal resistance (specified in datasheet, 40.9 C/W) is much less than the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance (133.2 C/W). Hence, the device will better sense the board temp than the ambient temp (in most applications the heat sources come from the PCB).

    Regards
