AWR6843: Question about AOA and AOA2D DPU

Part Number: AWR6843

Hi Experts:

1 Why AOA DPU can use only horizontal RXs to get elevation estimation?

In my understanding ,these 4 elevation antennas is parallel to the azimuth antennas, so even we do fft on the elevation antennas, we also get azimuth angles.

2  for AOA2D DPU why we do 2D FFT for angle estimation?

for AOA2D DPU, there is a 2D map, it reflect the real layout for TX + RX

In my understanding ,if we do FFT for each row, we can get azimuth angle,

if we do FFT for each column, we can get elevation angle, right?

So why the DPU do the elevation FFT on the result of azimuth FFT?

I mean why is 2D FFT instead of two 1D FFT?

Thanks in advance~
