AWR1843BOOST: max range: how to increase max range?

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST

hi,

I'm testing radar function on a ranging project maybe based on MRR demo, and studying the formula of range for detecting object: d=f*c/(2S)。

when I detect object, the distance of detecting object max range seems to 10m, how can I increase the max range, for example to 30m?

my colleague told me " dmax=Fs*c/(2S)", is it correct? how can I apply it to my range testing project?

what parameters is related to the max range in reality?

Regards,

Wembanyama

  • Hi,

Please remember that the demo can support MRR mode only, USRR mode only or MRR/USRR alternate mode.

MRR and USRR have separate configurations that allow to modify the max range.

Out of the box, the configured max range is 30m for USRR and 120m for MRR.

This is the best performance that can be achieved.

    Thank you

    Cesar

    hi,

I don't know how to modify the max range in CCS code. whether it is related to MRR.h?MRR or USRR mode mean many different factors, such ad SNR, numchirps, or even beamforming, Bandwidth?

please give me more details about the differece between MRR and USRR's parameters' settings.

    here is my difficulty:

I test my radar, the distance is very short ,near to 10m,and the signal is very weak in amplitude. so I don't how could I get my radar detect much far, much stronger signal( although I know radar EVM's max tx dBm is 12dBm), for exmaple 30m even 50m in practice but not in the theoretic formula  dmax=Fs*c/(2S).

  • Hi,

What type of object are you trying to detect?

    Thank you
