IWR6843ISK: Unable to flash .cfg file for 3D People Tracking

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hi TI Experts,

I have recently purchased an IWR6843ISK board and I have managed to run both out of box demo and 3D people tracking program successfully before encountering this problem.

  Problem faced:

  1.   I was able to flash the 3D people tracking tracking provided by TI using uniflash with the EVM in flash mode. However, when I switched the EVM to functional mode and power cycled the device as per stated in the user guide, i was not able to send the provided cfg file to the EVM. Below are the error message that I have encountered while running industrial visualizer and the board settings in functional mode:

Are there other ways to resolve this issue or are there other ways to send the .cfg file over to the board and run the 3D people tracking program?

Thank you

  • Are you sure you reset the board? The terminal output you're showing indicates to me that your chip may not have reset.

Additionally, did you use the pre-built image for 3D People Tracking? Or did you build it yourself in CCS? If you did build it yourself in CCS, please make no modifications to the project for now, and ensure the size of the binary you built is the same as the size as the pre-built binary in the toolbox.

    Nate

  • Hi Nathan,

thanks for the reply, I have reset the board before running the visualizer. I have also used the pre-built image provided. The problem still remains.

Another thing that I have noticed is after doing a power cycle, LED D7 and the USB enumeration LED remained on.

    Thank you

    Best regards

  • If you connect the device to a serial terminal at a baud rate of 115200, do you see the starting banner appear when you push the reset button? Are you sure the device is flashed properly?

    Nate

  • Hi Nathan,

Just to make sure, I have erased and flashed the prebulit binary file again. Using RealTerm with baud rate of 115200 and the EVM in functional mode, there were no data output for both enhanced and data ports when reset button was pushed.

    Thank you

  • Hi Kris,

Can you see the COM ports in the device manager? Is it possible there was an ESD event with your board?

    Best,

    Nate

  • Hi Nathan,

the COM ports were able to be detected in the device manager. It is highly unlikely to be an ESD event as the problem happened while I was running the 3D people demo program in the demo visualizer. But if the cause was ESD related, are there other ways to send the CLI file to the EVM or to fix the EVM?

    Thank you

    Best regards

  • Hi Kris,

Can you wipe the device clean with the format SFLASH button in Uniflash? Maybe something got corrupted on the device? I think an ESD event here is unlikely because the COM ports showed up fine. COM4 should appear with data when the program is correctly flashed at a baud rate of 115200.

    Best,

    Nate
