IWR6843: Regarding radar range and FOV

Hi,

I am using IWR6843 radar. At the range of 50m it gives FOV of 40degrees. I also have IWR1642 which gives range 40m with 120degree FOV.

How can I increase the FOV of IWR6843?

Also, I want to know how to control beam steering for different frequencies and how to turn it on/off if required?

Hello Manoj,

You can adjust the FOV of the sensors by changing the FOV in the configuration file that is sent to the sensor to start it. For more information on beam steering, we have the Long Range People Detection demo that goes over it in detail and helps explain how to use it

Hi Pedrhom,

Can we adjust beam steering and FOV when radar is functioning, that means radar is started detecting objects and functional and in between if I want to change beam phase angle or beam steering on/off or change in FOV?

Hello Manoj,

You cannot change radar parameters while the sensor is running

Hi Pedrhom,

I have one more query. If we modify fov of azimuth and elevation then will it affect on range of radar.

For eg.

Azimuth -90 to 90 degrees

Elevation -90 to 90 degrees

Range 59.99m

Doppler -30 to 30

Above configuration is as per 50m 2d lrpd config.

So if I change azimuth to -40 to 40 degrees then this will affect the range of 59.99m? If yes then how this effect will take place whether range will increase or decrease?
