I use MMwave Demo Visualizer using IWR6843ISK.

Could you please check some questions?

1. Is it possible to output the raw data of the following graphs? If possible, can you tell me how to do that?

2. I understand that Range Profile is data obtained from a static object. What exactly does the Detected Points represent?

Hello,

If by raw data you mean unfiltered unprocessed ADC data, then no. That will require a DCA1000. If you are looking for data in the form of one of the listed outputs in the Understanding UART Data Output Format (https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?a=1AslXXD__1.30.01.03&a=GwxShWe__1.30.00.7&node=A__ADnbI7zK9bSRgZqeAxprvQ__radar_toolbox__1AslXXD__1.30.01.03&placeholder=true), then a DCA1000 is not needed.

A detected point means that the peak is large enough to be deemed a real object at that range.

I apologize for the misunderstanding.

What I want to obtain this time is filled data. I understand the output format of UART data.

Is it possible to output the data displayed in Range Profile? (e.g. csv format)

I also understand about the detected points.

Is there some kind of threshold used to determine whether an object is large enough to be considered a real object?

Hello,

You can take the Range Profile input from the sensor and manipulate it however you like. The UART guide shows the format in which the range profile comes in, and how you want to display and structure that data afterwards is up to the user. There is also indeed a threshold. We use CFAR and a detection's SNR reflection must be stronger than the threshold in order to be considered a real detection. This CFAR threshold is configured via configuration parameters sent to the device prior to sensor start, specifically cfarCfg when using Out of Box demo. For more details on the configuration file parameters, see the MMWAVE-SDK User Guide which is in the docs folder of the SDK installation.

Thank you for your answer.

I found out that the data displayed on the GUI can be obtained by using RECORD SRART in the upper right.

The file format of the acquired data is .dat. How can I open it and check the data?

I understand that I can change the CFAR threshold.

There are two parameters of cfarCfg in cfg format obtained with RECORD START.Which value should I change to change the threshold?

Also, I think you can change the threshold using Real-Time Tuning, but the slider's value is not visible and you cannot check the value. Is there any way to resolve this?

For reading the .dat, you can use a script which you can download from this thread

With regards to cfarCfg, one line is for range direction and the other is for doppler direction. I will let you know the threshold value is the value 15 in your screenshot, but as mentioned in the MMWAVE SDK user guide the entire parameter is covered. Do a CTRL+F find in the user guide for the keyword "cfarCfg".

Could you please load this dat.file as an example and tell me how to do it?

Hello,

The script is not from TI so I cannot give absolute certain instructions. But it seems you need to put the .dat file in the same directory as the script. Set the fileName variable similar to how it is done in the commented section of the script, then run it.

I saved the script and the .dat file in the same directory, but I am having trouble figuring out how to proceed from here.

Do I need to use any tools to execute it?

Or can I utilize the following script from the thread you mentioned to decompress? I would appreciate your advice on how to unzip if possible.

Since you now have your recorded data, and know the format of it, you can use any language you want to plot it back. MATLAB, Python JS, etc. The Range profile is essentially a line graph that gets updated at the speed of your frame rate, and the 3D Scatter Plot is what is called a point cloud and there are many powerful and generic tools that can let you graph these kind of data sets that are not specific to radar.
