DRV5055: DRV5055 current consumption

Part Number: DRV5055

Hello
I have a question about the current consumption of DRV5055A2QLPGM.
The current consumption is 6 to 10 mA in the data sheet before December 2023.
The data sheet was revised in December 2023, and the current consumption has been changed to 3 to 5 mA.
When I applied a voltage of 5V to the DRV5055A2QLPGM that I obtained, the current consumption was 7mA.
"3CVOWF" and "55A2" were printed on the surface of the DRV5055A2 I obtained.
Is the DRV5055A2 I got an old datasheet?
Are there any changes to the product along with the datasheet changes?

  • Hello Tetsuo,

Are you able to get a picture of the DRV5055A2QLPGM package label?  That will provide me the date codes for when it was made.   Also can you comment on how you measured the current consumption?  A schematic or block diagram might help.  I just want to verify that there are no other sources of loss.

  • Hello Patrick

Attached is a photo of the package label.
    DRV5055A2QLPGM was purchased from Digi-key.

Voltage to DRV5055A2QLPGM is supplied directly from a regulated dc power supply.
The current consumption value is the displayed value of the DC stabilized power supply.

  • Hello Tetsuo,

Thank you for providing that information.  I am forwarding those details to my team.  Will try to provide you and update by the end of business today.

  • Hello Tetsuo,

It looks like we had a glitch with posting the wrong datasheet revision in December 2023.  Your device is operating as expected. We have rectified the issue now and reverted back to version B, the 2021 revision of the datasheet. We are looking into having the DRV5055 made on a new process that will improve the efficiency and therefore lower the current consumption of the device.  However, that version of the device is not available yet, and that datasheet reflecting its expected performance was erroneously posted.

  • Hello Patrick,

    Thank you for your information.

I am looking forward to the day when I can use the DRV5055, which consumes less power.
