IWR6843AOP: max values for FCC certification

Part Number: IWR6843AOP

Hi,
currently customer is certifing their HW including the IWR6843AOP by a test house. The test house requested the max TX, conducted TX, HF power, damping. Can you provide these data?
What values have you used for the FCC on our EVM?

Regards, Holger

  • Holger,

The max TX can be computed by the customer. This should be the device TX EIRP (15 dBm for single channel) subtracted by the TX back-off set by the customer.

In regards to conducted TX, there have been recent changes to 47 CFR 15.255. In this case we would like to highlight the clause from 47 CFR 15.255(c)(2) which states in part "field disturbance sensors/radars that limit their operation to all or part of the specified frequency band may operate without being subject to a transmitter conducted output power limit if they operate in compliance with paragraph (b)(3) of this section or with one or more of the provisions below".

The sections referenced by that clause (47 CFR 15.255(b)(3) & 47 CFR 15.255(c)(2)(i) through 47 CFR 15.255(c)(2)(v)) are the recommend operational ranges of the device. If the customer is able to operate in these bands, then there is no limit on conducted TX power.

I'm not sure what is meant here by HF power or damping. Can you please provide references to the relevant FCC regulation these come from?

For convenience, the entirety of 47 CFR 15.255 can be found here:  https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-47/section-15.255

    Mit besten Grüßen,

    Blake
