AWR2944: [Compiler] compilation time is very slow

Hello TI support,

Does your compiler "TI CLANG" support multithread compilation?

I am using make environment "not CCS" and the compilation time is very slow although I am using 32 thread processor. I think only one core is used.

Is there any option to speed things up?

Compiler version -> ti-cgt-armllvm_3.2.0.LTS

Hi Andrew,

To enable optimization in the tiarmclang compiler, select a level of optimization from the following -O[0|1|2|3|fast|g|s|z] options. The -O3 option is recommended for optimizing performance, but it is likely to increase compiler generated code size.

Hello,

You are talking about performance of hex in the embedded system but I am talking about compilation time of source code on the PC itself.

Compilation of source code takes very long time. so I am asking how to enable multithread compilation.

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the clarification.

The -j [n] option in gmake will run n jobs in parallel, which can decrease the compilation time by using multiple processors or cores.
Can you try using -j4 or -j8 and check if there is any improvement?
