AWRL1432:Background noise

Part Number: AWRL1432

Because we are currently designing KTO's near-field radar, but currently encounter the problem of NOISE, but after reducing the TX transmit power by 3db, we can no longer see the noise.
So I would like to ask if there is any measurement method to confirm that it is not caused by the NOISE of the PCB board,or the noise is caused by other reasons.

  • Hi,

Are you designing your own PCB board, or are you using the TI PCB AWRL1432 BOOST board? There will always be some noise from variations in manufacturing process.

How are you seeing the noise? Are you running one of our demo processing chains? I will need more details about your setup to understand.

    Regards,

    Tim

  • We are designing our own PCB board, and we are also using the AWRL1432 BOOST board, but we found that when using our own PCB board, the TX needs to be reduced by 3db before it can be used normally, but it is not needed with the AWRL1432 BOOST board.
So I still suspect that the performance of SNR on the two boards is different. I want to confirm where the difference is, how to measure it, and how to judge what is measured.
For example: after knowing the Gain value, how to convert the signal magnitude in the AFE

  • Hi,

If the the TX backoff is not needed on the TI boost board, there is likely something wrong with your PCB. I am looping in one of our hardware engineers to provide a further response.

    Regards,

    Tim
