IWR6843AOP: Functional Safety Support

Part Number: IWR6843AOP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1843AOP, AWR6843AOP, IWR6843

Hello,

We are using TI radar solution as part of our safety system.

The IWR6843AOP works quite well. however, there are some problems bothering us:

  1. How can we access to the Functional Safety documents for the IWR6843AOP and other safety-compliant chips? (Maybe a NDA signature is required?)

  2. The certification of the IWR6843AOP seems to include only the IWR6843AR "B" GALP, while only the IWR6843AR "Q" GALP is available on the market. Is there an estimated timeline for the IWR6843AR "Q" GALP to be certified? Or do you have a timeline for the WR6843AR "B" GALP to be released to the market?

  3. It appears that the higher model IWR1843AOP is also targeting certification. Is there an expected date for that?

  4. AWR6843AOP (Cert. Ver.) seems to be a good alternative. Is there any difference between AWR6843ARB and IWR6843ARB (except the package name) from hardware and firmware aspect?

Sincerely,

Po Wei

  • Hi,

Thanks for your query. We will get back in a couple of days

    Regards

  • Hello,

    1. For proof of functional safety compliance, we have certificates from TUV SUD listed on the IWR6843's store page. For details on the certification and our functional safety exclusive modules, a NDA is indeed required.

    2. The IWR6843AR "B" GALP is our functional safety device. Please see the diagram below as taken from the datasheet.

    3. We cannot discuss this on the E2E forums.

    4. The biggest difference is that the AWR part is certified to several automotive standards which are generally more rigorous than industrial standards.

    Best Regards,

    Pedrhom

  • Thank you for your reply. Would it be possible to provide a contact so that we can sign a nNDA and go through further procedures?

Additionally, we know that the IWR6843AR "B" GALP is a functional safety device. However, it is not available for purchase. We are trying to figure out how to purchase it. Do you have any information on this? Or maybe a contact?

  • Hello,

Please reach out to TI Customer Service or your TI Representative which will help point you in the right direction for a NDA.

    Best Regards,

    Pedrhom
