DCA1000EVM: draws high current, gets hot

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2944EVM

I had been using a DCA1000EVM board for some time and now it seems to have a HW problem. When using a laboratory power supply, instead of <3A @ 5V, it draws >4A and the Lattice LFE5UM-85F IC gets very hot quickly. With the originally used 5V, 3A power supply, the 5V led is flashing. Is my interpretation correct that the warranty period was 90 days? Do you think that there is any chance of repairing the device? If yes, what could we try?
