AWR1642BOOST: BEGINNER

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642

Hello everyone, I am an undergraduate student whose study will require using the AWR1642 Radar. My undergraduate study entails using the radar sensor to measure the river height (or depth) and flow velocity. I have no prior knowledge of coding. My issue here is, I don't know where to start. My computer rejects the sample codes in the Resource Explorer, stating "This is not supported by your OS", thus making it difficult for me to start coding.

Another question I have is whether the AW1642 Radar can function without being connected to the computer. Instead, it is connected to an OLED display. The OLED display is small (we aim to create a handheld device), thus we only make the OLED display numerical data.

Thank you for responding....

  • Hi Josh,

To run any example from Radar Toolbox, present in the TI Resource Explorer, you need to download and install the Radar Toolbox (ti.com). Now import projects into CCS to run the examples.

AWR1642 is for Automotive applications. You can check level sensing example in the Radar Toolbox for your use case.

For the second question, you can output the required data over UART and the device that you use for display need to have the capability of processing the UART data.
