DRV5055: Replace HAL888

We do not currently offer a single axis linear sensor with integrated EEPROM and programmability like the HAL888, but perhaps the DRV5055-Q1 would work for your application.

Yes, if detecting moving the joystick up, down, left, right either two 1D sensors or one 3D sensor is needed. In the Joystick and Lever Design With Hall-Effect Sensors app note, Figure 2-5 shows a 1 device design and Figure 2-7 shows a 2 device design. Please see section 2 of that app note for more information.

If you are interested in some initial evaluation/testing, the TMAG5173EVM features a 3D hall effect sensor (TMAG5173-Q1) and comes with a 3d-printed joystick module. You will also need a TI-SCB for evaluation. Please see additional information at the following pages.

Hi Gareth,

I sent you an E2E friendship request, you can share the mechanical file to me through an E2E direct message if you would like, but as far as magnet solution, you can find examples of different magnetic implementations in section 2.1.1 of the Joystick and Lever Design With Hall-Effect Sensors app note. I've included a screenshot below for reference. As you can see in the image, sphere, cylindrical, ring, and bar magnets are all options.
