HDC3022: Measurement inaccuracy/degradation from visible light exposure?

Part Number: HDC3022

The datasheet for this part states "Long exposure to UV and visible light, or exposure to chemical vapors for prolonged periods, should be avoided as it may affect RH% accuracy."

The handling doc only outlines protection procedures for particulate and chemical exposure, nothing about visible or UV light. If this part is used and/or stored in indoor environment with ambient lighting, will it degrade over time/will RH measurements be affected?

  • Hi Katrina,

As the datasheet says, long exposure to UV light could degrade the sensor. However, normal (fluorescent) indoor lighting should be fine. For ambient environmental sensing applications, a preventative action you could take is ensure the HDC device is kept out of direct light path (so you could slightly offset the HDC placement from a hole/opening in your application).

    Best,
