FDC1004: capacitive sensing and MCU integrated?

Part Number: FDC1004

Hi.

I am looking for a capacitive sensing chip that is able to detect the presence of a hand when trying to open or close a car door.

Ideally, we would like to find a solution where the capacitive sensing chip and the microcontroller are integrated in the same packaging, as our available space is quite limited.

It is important to keep in mind that the amount of parts to be used during the whole project would be about 6 million. Therefore, any information on pricing and availability would be appreciated.

As pn I just submitted a random one

Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hello Antonio,

The FDC line are our dedicated capacitive sensing devices. These are definitely capable of detecting the presence of a hand, but they would require an MCU to configure the device and read the measurement over I2C. For a combined MCU and cap sensor solution, I would recommend looking at the CapTIvate product line from the MSP product line. For more specific information on those devices, it would be best to start a new thread on the microcontroller forum with one of their part numbers.

    Best Regards,
