AWR1243BOOST: Unable to connect hardware

Part Number: AWR1243BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1243, AWR6843ISK, AWR6843

Hi Team,

i have only AWR1243BOOST and connected to PC. after serial port selection it says that waiting for data...for long..

While launching mmWave visualizer 2.1.0 , able to see the below error...how to fix this error

  • Hi Mahesh,

Thanks for reaching out to us over E2E.

In order to run the demo visualizer and get output user needs to run the standard OOB demo on the device. As AWR1243 is a front-end specific device, it doesn't have any MCU to run an application. So, the mmw demo visualizer doesn't have AWR1243 support for now.

Let me know your end objective here, what you want to achieve with AWR1243 to assist you further.

    Regards,
    Anirban

  • HI Anirban Chand,

    I have 1 AWR6843ISK and 1 AWR1243Boost.

I can connect and operate AWR6843ISK without any issue with mmWave Demo Visualizer 3.6.0. just connecteng AWR6843ISK directly to PC with USB cable.

    the similar way;

am trying to connect AWR 1243BOOST with mmWave Demo Visualizer 2.1.0. providing 5V Power supply at Power Jack and connecting PC with USB cable to control Module.

Now our end object is only one AWR 1243BOOST; not able to connect Hardware.

    Thanks

    Mahesh

  • Hi Mahesh,

Yes, AWR6843 radar device has its own MCU that can run the standard OOB Demo and the output can be visualized in the Demo Visualizer 3.6.

But, for AWR1243 device the case is not quite similar to AWR6843 device. AWR1243 device is mainly designed as front-end device, it doesn't have its own MCU that can run some demo. And that is why demo visualizer 2.1 doesn't support AWR1243 device.

Now, to test the AWR1243 device functionalities and explore it more you can use mmWave Studio 02.01.01. The studio provides a very user friendly GUI, through which you can configure your BSS/Front-end. In that way you can explore more of the device.

Please visit https://www.ti.com/tool/MMWAVE-STUDIO link to download the studio and go through the mmwave_studio_user_guide for getting started.
