AMC6821: RPM limit

Part Number: AMC6821
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM63

Team,

The AMC6821 datasheet shows max RPM as 23K RPM.

  • What happens if the fan RPM is greater than 23K RPM (like 25K or 33K RPM)?
  • Will the device just show 23K RPM or trigger an error?
  • Is there a replacement device for the AMC6821 that can read higher RPM?

Thanks

Viktorija

  • Hi Viktorija,

If you look at the tach data equation, you can see that AMC6821 is capable of reporting over 100k RPM.

The RPM accuracy will get worse as you approach the min or max reading. That's why the EC table indicates a nominal range where accuracy is best.

The AMC6821 actually has more range than the LM63 family, and would be better suited to the requested RPMs.

    thanks,

    ren
