IWR6843ISK: Software stops working with TI Labs/Demo and Matlab

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

We got the actual software and radar to work, (both through MMWave Studio and Matlab) but ran into repetitive issues:

We used the Long Range People Detection and after a certain amount of time, usually 10 to 15 seconds, the mapping freezes, although interestingly enough, the count for the amount of points that the radar was sensing was still running and behaving as expected. But this is now two different applications that freeze (MMWave Studio and Matlab), hence why we think its possibly the radar.

Tried using a different demo and computer, but we run into the same issue after about 10 seconds. In order to use the radar again, we need to disconnect it from power, otherwise the program that was flashed will keep running even if the software freezes.

  • Hello,

We will get back to you next week, apologies for the delay.

  • Hello,

Can you let me know which version of mmWave Studio and Radar Toolbox you are using? Also, what freezing behavior do you notice with mmWave Studio? Also, for the long range people detection demo (or other demos) when the visualization freezes, do you see any error message in the console?

    Best Regards,

    Josh

  • Version 2.01.01.00 of mmWave Studio, radar toolbox 2.00.00.06. and the visualizer from mmWave industrial toolbox 4.12.1. The freezing happens in the visualizer where it no longer maps new movements and is stuck showing the points right where it froze. It seems to take points for a certain amount of time before it stops showing the information on the demos/labs. As for the console, there we no error messages that showed up.

  • Hello,

Can you try with the Industrial Visualizer from the newer Radar Toolbox? It's possible that you've encountered a bug which may be resolved in the updated version. The visualizer has received several improvements since ITB 4.12.1.

    Best Regards,

    Josh
