Hello.
The virtual antenna array is different because the physical RX and TX positions are different on both devices.
Sincerely,

Hello,
What I want to say is ”why is the disposition of real TX antennas and RX antennas different between *WR6843AOP and *WR1843AOP. ”.
Please let me know why you wouldn’t make the disposition of TX antennas and RX antennas of *WR6843AOP and *WR1843AOP the same disposition.
Please advise.

Shoko
Sakaguchi-san,
The use cases of xWRL1843AOP (a 76-81GHz radar) and xWR6843AOP (a 60-64GHz radar) have different typical use cases due to frequency allocation and regulations. While both being wide FOV antenna arrays, the antenna patterns are tuned for better performance in those particular cases. Additionally, the array for xWR1843AOP takes into account improvements based on customer feedback.
Thanks!
Blake
Hello Blake,
Thank you for the response.
Regarding the use cases of xWR1843AOP and xWR6843AOP, I think xWR1843AOP is for target at some distance away,
xWR6843AOP is fot gesture or vital signs at short distance.
- For short-range applications, is it better to make each MIMO Virtual Antenna Array have a certain area?
You said,
> Additionally, the array for xWR1843AOP takes into account improvements based on customer feedback.
- What kind of feedback you received from customer?
Best regards,
Shoko
Sakaguchi-san,
The IWR6843AOP antenna array pattern allows for better angular resolution which is of paramount interest for gesture or vital signs.
Thanks!
Blake
Hello Blake,
Thank you for the response.
I think that the angular resolution does not improve because the number of virtual antennas is same as xWR1843AOP,
but the signal-noise ratio improves because the antenna directivity becomes uniformly sharp in both azimuth and elevation.
Is my assumption correct?
> Additionally, the array for xWR1843AOP takes into account improvements based on customer feedback.
Please let me know what kind of feedback you have received from your customers about the array for xWR1843AOP?
Please advise.
Thanks,
Shoko
Sakaguchi-san,
On the contrary, the angular resolution does in a particular direction with respect to the number of virtual elements. Both xWR1843AOP and xWR6843AOP have the same number of virtual elements in the azimuth and will thus have the same angular resolution in the azimuth. However, since xWRL6843AOP has an additional virtual element in the elevation than compared with xWRL1843AOP, it will see greater angular resolution in the elevation plane. This will come at the cost of some range, as you mention in your earlier reply.
Please let me know what kind of feedback you have received from your customers about the array for xWR1843AOP?
Respectfully, the most i will say here is that the xWRL6843 and xWRL1843 antenna arrays have been targeted to encapsulate the widest set of customer use cases as could be accomplished under RF spectrum allocations.
Thanks,
Blake
