HDC3022: HDC3022 for high humidity environment

Part Number: HDC3022

Hi,

We have an application, the enviroment humidity is from 50 to 100%RH. And it is very easy to get condensed when we tried HTU21D.

I am thinking to use HDC3022, according to the datasheet:

Its sensing element is protected by a hydrophobic PTFE filter and is ideal for outdoor environments or anywhere condensation is expected

Please advise if this is a good choice or do you have any better suggestion?

Regards,

Jenny

  • Jenny,

Yes I strongly recommend the HDC3022, since it has an IP67 rated PTFE filter that covers the sensor area. This PTFE cover is designed to block liquid water from passing through, but will allow water vapor through to accurately sense the humidity. My personal recommendation is to use the HDC3022 in a vertical position, so that any liquid water condensation that forms on the sensor area can roll off the package. The HDC3022 also has an integrated heater that can be used to remove condensation from the sensor and reduce RH offset drift due to the high RH ambient conditions.

Let me know if you have any more questions about HDC3022.

    Thanks
